Our reasons
Established in 2006, Artsales.com.au is an initiative designed to overcome some
of the more common problems encountered in the offline art world, and so make art
a more accessible, affordable and enjoyable experience for everyone.
As I see it, the main problems are:
•Not enough available gallery space for the
number of artists wanting to show their work
•The highly competitive and selective basis
on which galleries allocate space
•Economic factors: high commissions can make
it tough for both the artist and the buyer, (galleries will often take half of the
sale price)
•Some less wealthy people often feel unwelcome
or uncomfortable in private galleries (occasionally this also includes artists...)
•And some people are afraid of just saying
the wrong thing or looking ignorant.
Art should be for everyone and so our aim is to create a user friendly space where
artists and buyers of all kinds can show and browse, sell and buy works, in a way
that suits everyone.
Artsales.com.au is located in Melbourne, Australia, and we pride ourselves on being
a friendly and enthusiastic business. We are always looking for ways to bring you
