What is a signature file?
A signature file (or 'SigFile') is a block of text that automatically attaches itself
to the bottom of your e-mail messages.
It's a way of "signing off" and usually contains your name and contact details.
Now you can take it a stage further, and add some real personality
with your choice of art. What do signature files look like?
Anatomy of a signature file.
Just click on the art you'd like, substitute your details
and away you go...

If you don't know much about computers, don't worry. Each 'SigFile' download comes
with a complete set of instructions which you can also find at the bottom of this
page.

Here's how to use signature files with your favourite mail program.
General approach
Because mail programmes vary and change so quickly, a general common sense approach
may be all you need. If you don't have any success with the two approaches below,
try the individual programme guidelines underneath.
•Open your mail programme > click on help (F1)
> and enter 'signatures' in the search or index box. Follow the instuctions.
OR
•Do a general search on your entire computer
for the term 'signatures'. If signatures are kept in a specific folder, this will
show where it is
and you can pop your ArtSales.com.au signatures in there. Don't forget to check
the box allowing 'search hidden files and folders' before you start.
For Outlook and Outlook Express the signature folder is usually
C:\ Documents and Settings \ YOUR USERNAME \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Signatures
Outlook and Outlook Express
- Select your signature and copy it. (Ctrl A + Ctrl C)
- Click on New message
- Select Tools and then click Options
- Select Signatures tab
- Click on the New button and name your signature
- Paste in your signature! (Ctrl V)
- Select Add signatures to all outgoing messages.
(There's an option for Forwards and Replies as well)
- Click Ok
Mac Mail... pinched from the We Love blog.
If you get confused click here to view the original.
STEP ONE
- Open Safari and then open your HTML .sig file within the browser
- Click on Go to > Save As > Format > .webarchive and save the file
to your desktop
STEP TWO
- Open Mail then go to Preferences > Signatures
- Go to your desktop and open a New Finder window (Apple N) and navigate to your
Home folder (the house icon) in the left hand pane. From there, go to
Library > Mail > Signatures
- Flick back to Mail > Preferences > Signatures (keep your Signatures
Folder open – and visible – in the Finder window.)
Go to All Signatures (left hand pane) click + to add a signature,
and note which file appeared in your Signature Folder.
- Grab this signature from the folder and put it on your desktop. (Still keeping your
Signature Folder open and visible...)
STEP THREE
- Close Mail
- Click onto the signature file you just moved to your desktop. Copy the file name.
Put the file in the trash.
- Paste the copied file name over the .webarchive file name (the one you saved onto
your desktop in Stage 1)
- Now drag this file back into your Signatures Folder. (Ok, there are more efficient
ways of doing this bit, but this is the idiot proof part)
STEP FOUR
- Open Mail > Preferences > Signatures
- Bingo, your signature is there. Don’t worry if it looks broken, it’ll
be fine when you open it within your email
- Now click onto it in the middle pane – highlight it and name it –
then drag it into the left pane, onto the email account that you want to select
the signature for
- Open a new email, select the signature you just named – and there you have
it
