Freebies user guide E-mail signature files

What are signature files

Traditionally, a signature file or .sig file, was a block of text that automatically attaches to the bottom of your e-mail messages. It's a way of "signing off" and usually contains your name and contact details.

Now you can take it a stage further, and add some real personality to your messages with your choice of art, as well as helping to promote your favourite artists. What do signature files look like? Below is an example: just substitute your details and choice of art and away you go...

How to use signature files in your favourite mail program.

General approach

Because mail programmes vary and change so quickly, a general common sense approach may be all you need. If you don't have any success with the two approaches below, you can try with the individual programme guidelines below them.

Open your mail programme > click on help (F1) > and enter 'signatures' in the search or index box. Follow the instuctions.

    OR

Do a general search on your entire computer for the term 'signatures'. If signatures are kept in a specific folder, this will show where it is and you

can pop your Artsales.com.au signatures in there. Don't forget to check the box allowing 'search hidden files and folders' before you start.

For Outlook and Outlook Express the signature folder is usually

C:\ Documents and Settings \ YOUR USERNAME \ Application Data \ Microsoft \ Signatures
